Since 1949, the month of May has been observed as Mental Health Month in the United States. We at CITrials stand with the many national organizations who use this month to bring awareness and compassion to sufferers of mental illness.
The theme of this year’s Mental Health Month is #4Mind4Body. This means that health is a general matter, one that includes both physical and mental health. We must take care of our minds just as we take care of our bodies. Mental and physical health are much more intertwined then most people think. Poor mental health negatively affects physical health, and vice versa. The mind and the body are one combined unit, and both need care to promote and retain general wellness.
The #4Mind4Body campaign this year is exploring several topics. These include animal companionship (including pets and support animals), spirituality, humor, work-life balance, and recreation and social connections. All of these are great ways to boost your mental health and therefore, your general wellness.
