The "mood swings" between mania and depression usually last for 2 + weeks.  This mood disorder can be genetic, therefore if family members have a history of Bipolar disorder you should keep an eye out for symptoms like these:

    • Being Disobiedant 
    • Doing risky or dangerous things
    • Acting hyper and / or impulsive
    • Breaking rules even after intervention 
    • Moody sad, even tearful
    • Sleeping problems, going to sleep, staying asleep
    • Generally restlessness

    • Withdrawing from friends and family/feeling suspicious of others
    • Changes in sleeping or eating pattern
    • Less concern with appearance, clothes or hygiene
    • Difficulty organizing thoughts or speech
    • Loss of usual interest in activities or of motivation and energy
    • Development of unusual ideas or behaviors
    • Unusual perceptions, such as visions or hearing voices (or even seeing shadows)

  • Tourette's and Tics are very common and often go undiagnosed.

    You’ve probably seen a tic without even realizing it. If a child or teen develops tics (an urge for a movement or a sound) it can be scary for parents & family. Tics are common in children and they often seem to come out of nowhere.  You should keep an eye out for symptoms like these:

    • Physical Tics
    • Shoulder shrugging
    • Eye blinking
    • Lip biting
    • Facial grimacing

     

    • Vocal Tics
    • Clearing the throat
    • Humming, sniffing, snorting or squealing
    • Repeating words
